Packing Up

We are doing the last of the packing up of our kitchen tonight. The doors are missing on the cabinets because our next door neighbor Fred wanted them, so he came last night and took them down. I think he's going to make some shelves or storage bench out of the doors. Later tonight we will head over to the master bathroom and we'll pack things up there too. It's really weird to have to pack up stuff. We haven't had to pack things up since 2001 when we moved to this house. I feel a little nostalgic and out of sorts! Today was a little weird at work. When I got to work I found out that one of my coworkers died yesterday very suddenly from a heart attack. He was 65. He was our IT fix-it man. He took care of fixing up our PC's. I didn't know him that well, but I was a little sad nevertheless. And of course kind of shocked. Tonight we had take-out Chinese food. I imagine this will be a familiar sight for the next 8-10 weeks. We will probably cook at friends' houses once a week, but otherwise it'll be simple sandwich dinners, frozen dinners, or take-out food! My friend AJ started a blog and his first post is a tribute to our friend Barbara, who passed away last week. We were all in the same small group Bible study a few years ago. I finally finished our 2008 federal and state tax returns tonight and filed them! Man that's a huge monkey off my back. Then I contributed the last bit of money into our Roth IRAs for 2008, and set up the automatic contributions for 2009. Glad to check those things off my list. We also freecycled our 19" tube TV that we don't use anymore. The family who wanted it came and picked it up tonight. I like getting rid of stuff we don't use anymore. Sometimes we donate the items to charity, other times we freecycle. Well, I gotta go pack up more stuff now! Talk to you tomorrow!

  3. So great with a before-pic to have and compare with once you have your fab new kitchen. Guess it will be quite a difference. And I love the idea of freecycling, and your neighbor reusing the doors!
