Crafting Adventure | Misting on Cards

The latest craze in the scrapbooking industry is misting.  Many manufacturers are coming out with mists or color sprays that match their product lines, such as Studio Calico's Mr. Huey and October Afternoon's Sprinklers.  A couple of months ago, I picked up a few Mr. Huey mists while they were on sale.  I finally got to try them out on a couple of cards.

My friend Lara is moving to Hawaii, so I wanted to make her a goodbye card.  When I make cards, I tend to make two in similar designs.  This is usually because one 8.5" x 11" cardstock makes two cards.  And also because if I'm punching out some shapes, I can usually use the negatives of the shapes in a similar way.  You'll see what I mean in a second below.  Thirdly, since I'm pulling out my supplies, I might as well make at least a couple of cards, right?  I'm all about the efficiency!  :p

So here are the cards I made.

First I punched the cloud shapes using my Fiskars cloud punch.  You could easily do this if you have other cloud die cut shapes or have a Silhouette machine.  I temporarily adhered the clouds to the card on the left and put it into a big cardboard box so I can spray it without getting the mist ink everywhere.  I sprayed it with Mr. Huey in Bonnie Blue.  I waited for it to dry for a few minutes, then I took the cloud shapes off.  Then I adhered the cloud shapes to the card on the right.  This way I can make two cards with the same clouds!  I then cut some American Crafts Amy Tangerine line "Is It Any Wonder" fabric paper (the black chevron striped one).  It is self-adhesive, so I just peeled off the backing and stuck the fabric paper onto the cardstock.  I used an airplane punch from EK Success to punch out three airplanes from gray cardstock and adhered them to the card on the left.  (I love this paper punch but EK Success has discontinued it!  I was able to snag one at Overstock.com a couple of months ago.)  The airplane on the right side card is one I heat-embossed using American Crafts Amy Tangerine line's Lovestruck stamp and Zing! embossing powder in White, on black cardstock.  Then to finish it off, I stapled a tag from Amy Tangerine Bits Die Cut Collection on the left card and stamped the "good luck!" sentiment on from Lawn Fawn's "Just My Type Too" stamp set.  On the right, I cut a strip of cardstock, notched the end, and stamped "Bon Voyage" using the Mini Sentiments stamps from Purple Onion Designs.
