Listgirl Elsewhere

20140410-2014-04-10 18.06.02-1_blog

The coolest thing came in the mail last week.  The special DIY Issue of the Dutch magazine Flow Magazine!  Back in December, I was contacted by Otje van der Lelij, one of the freelance editors at Flow Magazine.  She had stumbled upon my blog and seen my Project Life pages and became intrigued.  She was writing an article about Project Life for the DIY Issue of Flow Magazine and wanted to ask me a few questions and use some of my photos.  I agreed and we had email correspondence back and forth.  They said they would send me a copy of the magazine when it came out.  I received it in the mail last Thursday!  I was super-excited and shared on Facebook and Instagram right away.  If only I could read & understand Dutch!

Another cool thing I stumbled upon this past week was an article at Craft Storage Ideas, about the way I organize my journal cards for Project Life!  Hazel Hamman (one of my blog readers) wrote the post over there.  I was so excited to see it, lol.  Thanks for the shoutout, Hazel!

And… the end of an era has come.  The Digi Show has recorded their final podcast and ended its wonderful run.  I will miss having new episodes to listen to, but am also glad that I’m friends with Katie and Peppermint and will continue to keep in touch.  Well, of course Peppermint, ha!  We talk on most days.  But the good news is, they’ve moved all the old episodes from their Paperclipping days over to The Digi Show, so now all the episodes are at one place, available for listening!  I’ve been honored to have been a guest on four of the episodes over the years. I won’t lie. It’s awesome to see that “Christine Newman” link on their sidebar and have a URL link to all four of the episodes.

If you’ve never listened to The Digi Show podcast, you can start with the latest and go back.  Or start from the beginning.  If you’re interested in the episodes where I was a guest, then they’re here!  Funny fact about this.  On two of the episodes that I was on, I happened to have a cold so my voice was funny and nasally.  They had a knack for asking me to be the guest when I was sick, lol!  :p

Rad Lab Sale + Wintersong

Hi Everyone!  Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!  I took some time off to be with family, so I’m slightly behind on blogging.  We’ve had a wonderful few days off!

A couple of things I wanted to mention while the good deals are still on!  First is the Rad Lab sale!  If you read my blog, you know that I love the Rad Lab filters by Totally Rad.  I use it from within Lightroom to process my photos.  Rad Lab also works from within Photoshop and Photoshop Elements, if that’s what you have.  Totally Rad has extended their Black Friday sale through Cyber Monday 12/2!  This is their biggest sale of the year and you can save 35% off any of their products, although you know my favorite is Rad Lab!

image.php

Use the code BLACKFRIDAY2013 to get 35% off Rad Lab!  This is the best price you will see probably all year, so take advantage of it while you can!  I bought this last year during their Black Friday sale too!

I use Rad Lab filters from within Lightroom all the time for photos on my blog and scrapbooking photos. I even talked about it the last time I was on The Digi Show podcast! I guess it’s one of my favorite “quick and dirty” tricks, ha ha!  Wanna see an overview of how I use Rad Lab from Lightroom to process my photos?  Watch this video.

Here’s my “before” photo from the video:

And here’s the “after:

Speaking of Rad Lab, I made a digital layout last week in which my original photo sort of clashed with the color scheme of the digital scrapbook kit I was using, so I used Rad Lab to transform the photo.

Here is the original photo:
IMG_3167_600
While I love the colors, it was too tropical for a kit called Wintersong

So I used Rad Lab to make it look like this:
IMG_3167-RL-2_600
Doesn’t it give it a totally different feel?

The recipe of this photo:
Divine Light #2 at 100%
Troy at 51%
Lux | Hard at 41%
Flirt at 35%

Here’s my layout.  See how the colors of the photo goes much better with my layout now?

Supplies:  Wintersong digital scrapbook kit and Wintersong journal cards by One Little Bird; Amatic SC font.

Speaking of Wintersong, it is still on sale for 30% off through Cyber Monday, and you get the journal cards for FREE when you purchase the kit!

Wintersong digital kit here.

Wintersong journal cards here.

That’s it from me today!  I need to create an editorial calendar of all the blog posts I need to write to catch up!  Hope you have a great start to your week!  :)

Daily Digi & The Lilypad @ CHA

I went to CHA as press for Write.Click.Scrapbook. I was there to report on trends, colors, new products, and the general feel of the show. I will be doing that via Twitter in the next couple of days. So follow Write.Click.Scrapbook. on Twitter if you would like to see photos of products.

The people I hung out with the most were my friends at Daily Digi, The Digi Show, and The Lilypad. When I arrived on Friday night, I met up with them at PF Chang’s for dinner. It was so fantastic to meet everyone!

I went to bed all excited. I finally got to meet a bunch of friends that I’ve only known online! (Except for Peppermint and Liz, I’ve never met anyone else in person.)

The next morning, we were invited to the Daily Digi/ Digi Show breakfast at Steakhouse 55 inside the Disneyland Hotel!

Steph from Daily Digi hosted 3 tables. She made name cards so we knew where we were sitting.

We got customized soda bottles too!

Breakfast was super-fun! I took this photo of what I THOUGHT was my omelette. Until Peppermint took a few bites of hers and there were tomatoes in it. Apparently she had mine and I had hers, so we had to switch. So this was Peppermint’s omelette.

I miss these girls already. When you meet online friends, you never know if how they are in person is what you expected from your online interactions. These women were more fantastic than I had ever expected! As Sara Gleason said on Instagram… now we are #reallifefriends. I love that!

More people and product posts from CHA this week on the blog! :)

The Digi Show

We just got back from a few days in Texas with my sister’s family for an early Christmas celebration. We had a great time with them. I’ll share some photos later this week.

In the mean time, I am on The Digi Show podcast this week, talking about quick and dirty tips! We recorded this show two weeks ago, and once again I had so much fun chatting with Steph, Katie, and Peppermint about digital scrapbooking!  We talk about quick and dirty hacks and tricks for everything from photo editing to using a Silhouette machine.

You can listen to episode 67 right here!

And if you missed some previous episodes that I’ve been on, they are listed below.

Episode 25: Photos That Capture Your Life

And from previously when it was called the Paperclipping Digi Show:

PDS029 – The Year in Review

PDS032 – I’m Learning So Much Today

ALSO, I made some printable holiday gift tags for “It’s A One Little Bird Christmas” on Peppermint’s blog.

Be sure to stop by the One Little Bird blog to download them and see how I used them. :)
