Music, Running, Football, and Chili

This weekend the weather was gorgeous and we did some fun fall things.

On Friday night, we drove downtown to Anthology to see jazz guitarist Stanley Jordan in concert.  We just discovered the music venue Anthology this year, and we just LOVE going there for dinner and a concert.  It is an awesome venue.  We’ve seen Poncho Sanchez, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Fourplay, and now Stanley Jordan. What’s even better is that we had purchased a Daily Save coupon for $25, good for $50 at Anthology.  This made the evening a great value.  :) Oh and on top of that, we got our seats upgraded to the floor level because they didn’t sell out.  Way to go Anthology, for making your customers feel special!

Upon arrival, we found parking right across the street from the exit of Anthology!  The good parking karma continues!  The music was amazing and the food was pretty good.  I had a beet salad and fried calamari, while Todd had steak.

Stanley Jordan was gracious and so nice.  He introduced his musicians as soon as he got on stage.  Then he said he loves playing with his best friends.  I love seeing musicians who love to play.  I’ve been to some concerts where the musician looked like he/she didn’t want to be there.  This was not the case at all with Stanley Jordan.  Then after the concert, he hurried to the back of the place to greet everyone leaving and people who were purchasing CD's.  He didn't make anyone wait for him.  Such a down-to-earth nice guy.  I was very impressed.

Saturday morning we woke up and watched ESPN College Gameday.  Then we went running at Lake Miramar.  It was sunny and in the high 60's.

I got a little hot in the second half of my 3.86 mile run.  I haven't run past 3 miles in 3-4 weeks!  Todd ran 5 miles, all the way around the lake.  Afterwards we had lunch @ Chile Peppers.  I had CA Burrito and Todd had carnitas tacos.  Then we came home and watched Ohio State beat Illinois 17-7.  This was an upset victory as Illinois was undefeated going into this game, so we were both very excited.  Ohio State is not as good this year, so we savor any victories we can get!  We ended up going to Saturday night church because Todd planned on going cycling Sunday morning.

Today I got a lot done.  I spent some time in the morning organizing the craft studio.  I finished my contribution to the Mscraps November collab kit.  I reconciled and paid some bills.  I processed photos.  The only thing I wish I had time for was actually crafting.

I found Noodle on the kitchen counter by the big window.  We put a towel there just in case he goes there.  We don’t encourage him to be on the kitchen counter, but since we both work all day, we can’t really stop him.  And look how cute he is.

Todd spent a good part of the afternoon chopping and cooking up 2.5 batches of his famous chili, for the Soup Club exchange next week.  We had some for dinner too, and it was super-delicious.  Love me some chili in the fall!

The chili is a recipe from Cooking Light called “All-American Chili”, if you want to give it a try yourself!

Now I have exactly an hour before my weekend is over and I have to go to bed so I can get up and exercise and go to work.  I did so well with exercising this past week!  :) I ran on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, and I did strength training on Wednesday.  My body feels better already and I’m sleeping better as well.  Exercising sure does wonders.
