10 Years Ago Today

2013_01_02_20_52_17_600

We were at the Fiesta Bowl BCS National Championship Game in Tempe, Arizona, watching the Ohio State Buckeyes make history by beating the Miami Hurricanes and winning the National Championship in double overtime. One of the best nights of our lives. (Even though we paid $500 for each ticket and they were in the nosebleed section high up.) We left the stadium way past midnight, with hoarse voices from cheering so hard. But oh so happy. What a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see it live in person!

And even though these film photos were grainy and somewhat out of focus, they are still such a treasure. They are part of our favorite memories ever.

During the whole day, we only took about 10 photos. It makes me marvel at the amount of memories we are able to capture now with awesome digital DSLR cameras, point-and-shoot cameras, and our phones. Technology has come a long way in just 10 years.

  1. Photos were to be conserved back then - don't want to run out of film too soon! Also back then I really didn't understand the difference between 100 ISO film and 200 or 400. Just that the higher number cost more. I assumed it was better in some way.

Tostitos was rolling out some new chip at that time and everyone in the stadium got a free (snack size) bag. I can't remember what was different about the chip though. Oh, and the tickets were $525 each. :)

I still remember the night very well. It wasn't until we got back to the hotel that we learned about the bad call that forced overtime. OSU should have won it in regulation. Or the other one the Miami fans complain about. ;)

    1. Obviously, if I had done Project Life back then, I would put the empty bag of Tostitos into my album. And this game would have its own 2-page spread! :D

  5. I just read something recently...now most families take more photos during one vacation than they'd previously did in an entire year. Big difference! And it makes it so hard to narrow down photo selections now.

But you two both remember that day, and that it what counts!
