Crafting | More Cards & Silhouette Cutouts

I’ve made a few cards here and there, so I thought I would do a post to show those.  I really enjoy making cards, because I think about the recipient and how they would enjoy receiving them.  Plus cards are like a mini-canvas where I can try out new techniques or layouts.

I made this birthday card for our friend Gilbert.

I used various circle stamps from Inkadinkado.  I punched out a few of the circles and adhered them onto the card with foam adhesive to create some dimension.  The “Happy Birthday” sentiment is Tiny Sentiments from Purple Onion Designs.

I made this birthday card for another friend.

I used a doily stamp from Studio Calico and heat embossed it with white Zing! embossing powder from American Crafts.  The red cardstock is Pure Poppy from Papertrey Ink.  I tied the card with some red and white twine from Martha Stewart.  I die cut and stamped the ticket strip and adhered it to the card with foam adhesives.  The ticket die and stamps are “Just The Ticket” by Papertrey Ink.

I made this thank you card for our next-door neighbor Fred, who took care of our cat Noodle when we were out of town.

White cardstock from Papertrey Ink.  I stamped the cat stamp from Catslife Press using gray and black ink, alternating them.  I think the cat stamp looks sort of like our Noodle!  Then I stamped an extra cat in black and cut it out.  I tied the card with The Twinery Moraschino twine, then adhered the cat on top of that with foam adhesive.  I stamped “thanks” and wrote in “Fred”, then cut out the speech bubble shape freehand and adhered it with foam dimensional adhesive.

For some wintery holiday cards, I made a couple of cards with snowflakes as the theme.

I used “Tag Its #8” stamp set by Papertrey Ink, using their “Fresh Snow” ink.  Kraft paper is Bazzill Basics.

I adhered some little pearl bling into the center of the smaller snowflakes, to add some dimension.  Then I wrapped the cards with twine.

To finish off the card, I used these snowflakes that I cut out with my Silhouette digital cutter and I tied the extra length of twine around the snowflake.

Lastly, when I was making my handmade holiday cards and cutting out my custom ornaments, I cut a bunch of snowflakes and sentiments out, because I wanted to fill out the empty cardstock spaces with smaller designs so I didn’t waste too much cardstock.

I used the Pacifico font and cut out “love”, “peace” and “joy” in lots of sizes.  There were also snowflakes.

I cut out a bunch in green also.

And some in blue!  Now I have these die cut snowflakes and sentiments in a plastic container and they’re ready for scrapbook pages or cards.  :)

  1. Love your cards. The snowflakes are really pretty. My favorite is Noddle saying "Thanks Fred!"

  2. OMGosh Christine, I ADORE those cutouts you've created using your Silhoutte!!! I'm soooooo tempted to purchase one and seeing your creations is making the temptation harder to resist! You've made FANTASTIC use of the cardstock and not wasted any of it , I LOVE it!!!! Oh, and I think the cat stamp looks totally like Noodle. Hahaha!

I have been reading your posts lately, but I apologise I haven't commented as often as I normally do. The Christmas period always gets crazy busy and I've been a little remiss :-(

If I don't get the chance to pop back before hand, I hope you, Todd & Noodle all have a SUPER Christmas snd enjoy your tradition of spending time on the beach ... see, I do read your posts ;-)
