On Saturday I had the pleasure of joining my friend Meera and her friends at Balboa Park for Finish Chelsea’s Run. Chelsea King’s life was tragically cut short on February 25th, 2010, when she went for a run and was attacked and killed by a stranger. Finish Chelsea’s Run started three years ago, a couple of weeks after Chelsea’s murder.
Trying to find parking near the start line was futile. I parked near the museums and had to walk almost a mile to the start line of the 5K. But along the way, the views were gorgeous. And because it was early, it wasn’t crowded. The sky was so blue!

Along the route of Finish Chelsea’s Run. Over 6,000 people came out and did the 5K.

I didn’t run it. This is the first 5K where I didn’t run! I walked with my friend Meera and her friends.

At the finish line. It was a really warm day. I sweated even though I was only walking.

Meera and I took a self-portrait.

The cool thing was, now that I have an iPhone, all the pictures in this blog post were taken with my iPhone. I didn’t have to bring a separate camera with me, which alleviated a lot of hassle. I will love being able to just take my phone on runs now and get good photos!
Of course, after the 5K, I had to walk another mile back to where I parked my car. And it was super-scenic again. Totally didn’t mind the walk.

On the way home, I decided to stop by our favorite bakery in San Diego, Bread & Cie, so I could pick up a Belgian brownie for Todd. It’s Todd’s favorite brownie!

And because I walked a few miles and was hungry, I got an Artichoke Frittata Panini. I’ve never had it before. It was DELICIOUS! I’ll definitely go back for that again. :)
In the evening, we went to Stone Brewery for the first time. We had heard good things about it but had never been. I can tell you this: their food is absolutely delicious.

I’m not a beer person. I don’t like drinking beer because I think beer tastes gross. But since I was at Stone, I thought I would give it an old try. I ordered my food and asked the bartender for a recommendation. He gave me the Firestone Walker Velvet Merlin.

It’s some sort of smoky oatmeal stout with cocoa and espresso aromas. It smelled a little bit like coffee to me. It was so bitter! I couldn’t finish it, LOL.
After dinner, Todd and I walked around the garden. The sun was setting and the scenery was really beautiful. In the summer, they show outdoor movies here.

I had a lot of fun on Saturday. Started out early with a 5K Run/Walk in Balboa Park with my good friend Meera. Ending with a fine evening and dinner at Stone Brewery. With my favorite husband. ♥
