Mornings | May Write Click Scrapbook Layout

The May gallery is now live at Write.Click.Scrapbook.!  This month the theme is “Everydaily”, which is our take on scrapbooking something that is a part of our everyday lives.  I thought of my morning cup of coffee right away, because that is definitely a daily ritual for me!

I used a lot of Evalicious goodies such as puffy stickers, shaped paper clips, tabs, badges, and journal card on this layout.  Eve has a bunch of coffee-related goodies in her “Everyday” collection in her shop!

This layout came together rather fast, in about an hour. I knew I wanted coffee theme and embellishments, and yellow, orange, and brown colors. I quickly found some papers, stamps, and embellishments to match. Love it when it comes together quickly and the creativity just flows!

Some sequins and enamel dot clusters finish off the page.

I processed the same photo using three different filters from Rad Lab. Then I put them onto one 4x6 canvas in Photoshop and printed it at home. I like the way it looks, different, yet the same.

I used mostly the Studio Calico February scrapbook kit Sugar Rush, plus some items from my stash.  I really enjoyed the layering and textures.  I created the stamped dots using stamp & ink, and the ink splatters using Mr Huey’s sprays.

I created the “Currently” 3x4 journal card myself in Photoshop and then printed it out on Becky Higgins Project Life 3x4 blank cards.

Write Click Scrapbook | Anniversary Mini

March is “Mini Madness” at Write.Click.Scrapbook.  I’ll be honest and say mini albums are not “my thing”. I used to really like making them when I first started paper scrapbooking back in 2011. But now? I feel like I’ve somehow lost interest in them a bit. I think it’s because I have at least three unfinished mini albums that I started over the last couple of years and never finished. And I probably never finished them because I lost interest. So the mini album that I submitted for the WCS gallery this month isn’t new, it is one I made a couple of years ago to give Todd as a gift. It’s one of the few mini albums that I actually completed! :)  While the project was not new, I did take brand-new photos of the pages for the gallery and for my blog.

I worked on the album over the course of about a month, in secret, so that I could give it to Todd as an anniversary gift.

I actually typed all the reasons that I love him in MS Word. Then I printed it out on Bazzill cardstock and cut them into strips to adhere to my pages.

Many of the photos included in the mini were taken by Tara Whitney, including the one above and the one below.  There are also a few snapshots we took ourselves too.

One Little Bird | Beach Santa

It’s almost the most wonderful time of the year!  Document Your December 2013 debuted at The Lilypad today.  Just so many awesome digital & printable goodies for digital or hybrid mini albums to document the holidays!

As you know I’ve been on Weight Watchers since July 1st.  I’ve had some success but there’s also been weeks where my weight stayed stagnant.  I love to eat, so my dream would be to be able to eat everything I want to eat without gaining any weight, ha ha!  I guess it’s my humorous take on the November theme.

I took a screenshot of my “Noms” board on Pinterest. 

Then I cropped it to 4x6 at 300 dpi in Photoshop and printed it out onto 4x6 glossy photo paper.

I used my Silhouette digital cutter quite a bit on this layout, including cutting the title word “dream” out of American Crafts POW glitter paper, and “yummies” out of pink cardstock.

Embellishing the cupcake was really fun, as was filling in some of the heart cutouts with patterned papers.

I wrote my journaling in the cloud-shaped cutout, further emphasizing the “dream” part of my sentiment.  :)

Digi Dare + WCS Nov Layout Sneak

I did a layout for this week’s Digi Dares.  It is all about what could have been!

Digi Dare #343 | I Was Going To Be…

Journaling: In 2004 I wanted to be a NFL cheerleader for the San Diego Chargers. I was a cheerleader in my teen years, and was in jazz dance for numerous years. I thought I had a chance at Charger Girl tryouts. So I showed up at the pre-tryouts to learn the routine. Wouldn’t you know it, it was a routine to a Britney Spears song. We only had an hour to learn the routine and then we had to perform it in groups of three in front of the judges. If I had more time to learn the routine, I could have done ok. But as it was, I was eliminated. I’m totally ok with it now, but back then i was disappointed. Oh what could have been!

The photo was a promo shot that I brought to the Charger Girl tryouts.  They wanted a full-body shot and a headshot.  What I forgot to mention in the journaling is that I had been taking an adult jazz dance class for a few months as a refresher, since I hadn’t danced on a team since high school.  The instructor of the class was a Charger Girl, as was the owner of the dance studio!  While I didn’t make the Charger Girls, I did get to dance in a recital that summer with the studio at the Escondido Performing Arts Center, so at least there was that.  :-)  I’m glad I tried out for the Charger Girls even though I didn’t make it.  My motto in life is always to try.  It is better than regretting not doing something, or always wondering what could have been.

Five on Friday

One:  What could be construed as “Fall” has arrived in San Diego this week.  This past weekend we had temps in the 90’s with the Santa Ana winds.  But a few days later, “fall” arrived.  The leaves on the trees at work have turned colors and are falling.

And last night was the first night since April that we had to pull out the comforter for the bed.  That’s pretty epic.  Temps inside the house went down to 68.

 

Two:  since it’s finally cooler now, I pulled out the afghan that I’ve been crocheting since… last spring?  (2012)  Time to make some progress again.

 

Three:  I’m totally thinking about signing up for Urban Craft Camp, run by Ana Spick of We Love Citrus and Jen Byard of My Three Songs Designs.  I had a great time at their String Art Workshop this summer.  The new workshop I want to attend is book binding.  It is 11/9 at Pigment in North Park.

Four:  I am slowly yet surely making progress with my weight-loss goal.  I’m now about 6 lbs from my goal weight.  I started on July 1st, but the last few weeks I haven’t lost as much weight, even though I’m still making small progress.  I’ve started back up with weights and strength training because I want to build more muscles.  Twice in my life in the past, when I’ve lost 10 or more pounds, I had incorporated weight training.  Hopefully it’s the trigger that I need to jump start my weight loss again and get to my goal weight!

Five:  I’m loving One Little Bird’s mobile font Key Notes!  I use the font inside the Phonto or Over app on my iPhone to overlay words over my photos.  (Such as the ones above.)  And this one of Noodle.

Write.Click.Scrapbook. | Day In The Life

The October gallery has gone live at Write.Click.Scrapbook.!  This month’s theme is “Day In The Life”, and I loved that each team member interpreted this theme differently!

I wanted to share my process with you.  I picked a day (August 30, 2013) and set reminders on my phone to take photos every hour throughout the day. Then I just picked my favorites that reflected my day and ended up with nine photos. Including nine photos on a layout can be difficult, so I sized them at about 2.4" square and created a collage in Lightroom.  (I printed 3 extra photos for other layouts on there.)

I exported the collage as a jpeg file, then pulled it into Photoshop and typed the time and description of each photo on top of each photo.

Then I printed it out 8.5x11 and cut the photos apart for my layout.

I knew I wanted to use a stencil to draw a big camera on my layout, so I did that step first.  (Sorry about blurry phone photo.)

Then I took my 2.4” cut-apart square photos and placed them onto my layout where I thought would look good.  I moved them around a bit before settling on their positions.

After that, I built my layout with pieces of patterned papers and embellishments.

And lastly, I added my title and journaling.

I think typing the time and journaling onto the photos allowed me to fit so many photos onto the layout.  Otherwise I don’t think I would have enough room!

Adding the little bits of embellishments gave the layout the finishing touch.
