Evalicious | Oh What Fun

Hi Everyone!  I hope you all had a nice Christmas with your families!  Todd and I had a great Christmas, which I’ll have to blog about soon.  I’m up on the Evalicious blog today with a 12x12 layout about our Elf Party.  It will be right next to my Project Life page about the party in my album.

I used lots of items from the Oh What Fun collection in the shop.  To play off the festive colors in my photo, I used red, green, light blue, and a touch of gold on my layout.

I used the “hello December” wood veneer from Oh What Fun to anchor the top strip on my layout.  I also used some gold paint and gold striped washi tape to create some interest.  I stapled a tab from Oh What Fun Page Tabs to the left corner of the photo.  A “naughty or nice?” Oh What Fun Snipsnip label completes my layers around the photo.

On the upper right side, I used a red shipping tag with a star cut out from it.  I adhered a tab to it, as well as stars die cut from gold paper.

I added my journaling to a journal card from This Christmas Large Tags.  I added a “yearly traditions” sticker from the Oh What Fun Puffy Stickers V1

I diecut two 3x4 journal cards out of patterned paper.  The die (PTI Journal Card 7 die) added holes to the frame of the journal card so I threaded red & white twine through one of them to make it more festive!  Then I added the “merry merry” badge from Oh What Fun Badge Buttons

I added some Martha Stewart gold paint in the corners of my design, and random dots around the layout.  Then I added some gold sequins as a finishing touch.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my holiday layout using lots of items from Oh What Fun!

One Little Bird | December Project Life Page

20141222-IMG_4986_CLN

Hi Everyone!  I am on the One Little Bird blog today with a Project Life page about our Elf Party!  This is the fourth time we've had a December "Elf" movie watching party at our house, so it is definitely a tradition with friends!

20141222-IMG_4976_CLN

I combined several different ways to use digital supplies on this page.  I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the word "joy" from The Two Five cutting files.

20141222-IMG_4983_CLN

I also love typing out my journaling cards before printing them out, so I used the "joy" png file as a placeholder in Photoshop so that I can type my journaling around the word.  Then I hid the layer with the word "joy" and printed the journaling out.  After cutting out "joy" with gold paper, I adhered it in place and added some gold sequins.

For this 3x4 photo, I used a template from Photojournalist Vol. 01.  I recolored the "sparkle" circle by sampling the light blue in my photo.

20141222-IMG_4993_CLN

This 3x4 journal card was originally 4x6 in the "There's Something About Merry" journal card pack.  I cut it down to 3x4 in Photoshop, moved the ornament to the right, and typed journaling before printing it out.

20141222-IMG_4998_CLN

On the tree photo below, I added the "a beautiful sight" label from "There's Something About Merry Elements" right onto the photo in Photoshop before printing it out.

20141222-IMG_4994_CLN

One other thing I love to do is use digital word art right onto the photo.

Just for something different, I put a shadow on this digital word sticker before printing the photo out.

Celebrate December with Elle’s Studio

20141110-IMG_4785_CLN

For the whole month of December, Elle’s Studio blog is having a “Celebrate December” event.  Every day there are new projects on their blog created by the Celebrate December guests, as well as chances to win awesome prizes!

I’m honored that Jenni and Elle invited me to take part in this wonderful Celebrate December event.  My first layout was on their blog this past Thursday, using the sketch they provided. Triangles are one of my favorite shapes right now. I decided to use one of my favorite papers from Good Cheer, “Holiday Quilt”, because the patterns naturally form triangles. This page documents another one of our favorite Christmas traditions, affectionately called “Christmas On the Beach”. Ever since we moved to San Diego 15 years ago, we have spent all but one Christmas at the beach.

Supplies:  Good Cheer collection, Christmas Ephemera Pack, Letters & Numbers Stickers – Red, Merry & Bright Exclusive Stamp, Warmest Wishes Exclusive Stamp, November Digital Cut Files.

I sewed the top triangle onto the page and used the pine sprig from the Merry & Bright Exclusive Stamp set to create a top and bottom border for the page. I also stamped a few snowflakes from Warmest Wishes Exclusive Stamp set and glued some sequins to the middle of the snowflakes. I love how they look on the page.

20141110-IMG_4779_CLN

I used a square photo that fit into the polaroid frame from Good Cheer Bits & Pieces. Then I propped up the photo on foam adhesive so it stands out on the page.

20141110-IMG_4783_CLN

I love how this page came together, and the magical feel of the Good Cheer collection!

20141110-IMG_4781_CLN

My second layout and a holiday card was featured on the Elle’s Studio blog on Saturday.  You all know that one of my favorite holiday movies is “Elf”. Todd and I have watched it every year for a long time. A few years ago, we decided to have an “Elf” movie watching party at our house with our friends. It has become an annual tradition that we all look forward to!

20141110-IMG_4788_CLN

Supplies:  Good Cheer collection, November 2014 Kit, Holiday Tags Digital Cut File, Letters & Numbers Stickers – Red, Letters & Numbers Stickers – White, November Digital Cut File.

I used a lot of papers, wood veneers, stamps, alpha stickers, and diecuts from the Good Cheer collection. Love this festive collection with awesome patterns & colors to scrap the holidays! I used a lot of alpha stickers and cut-out words to spell out one of my favorite quotes from the movie.

20141110-IMG_4791_CLN

I also used the red alpha stickers for my title, right above the photo. I laid out my alphas on vellum, then I stapled the title onto the vellum backing my photo. Those Good Cheer wood veneers were perfect for the middle of the cut-out snowflakes!

20141109-IMG_4776_CLN

I cut out a couple of tags using the Holiday Tags Digital Cut Files. The “Fa la la la la” from the Good Cheer – North Pole Stamp set was totally perfect for my theme.

20141110-IMG_4793_CLN

20141110-IMG_4794_CLN

Next I made a simple card I from Good Cheer Wood Veneers, Bits & Pieces, and the November 2014 kit. Elle’s journal cards and tags make holiday card-making super-easy!

20141110-IMG_4799_CLN

I loved creating with the wonderful Good Cheer collection and the holiday-themed November kit! The exclusive stamp sets are all amazing too! Documenting holiday traditions is one of my favorite things to do, and Elle’s Studio goodies made it easy and fun!

Remember that you can still comment in this post on the Elle’s Studio blog to win a $50 GC to Elle’s Studio!  What a fantastic prize!

Elf Party 2014

20141207-IMG_4944_blog

We had our fourth Elf Party at our house on Sunday night, Dec. 7th.  This almost-annual tradition (we have skipped some years) is a great chance for a holiday get-together amongst friends.  We celebrate with food, and of course we watch the movie “Elf” together.  It’s also a chance for me to craft up some party favors.  You can see our previous Elf Parties here (2010), here (2011), and here (2012).

I sent out our invitations weeks ago.  In case you missed it, the details and a free printable download are here in this post

Our guests arrived around 6pm for a sit-down dinner.

20141207-IMG_4925_blog

Instead of place cards for the seating arrangements, I made Elf treat boxes with each person’s name on it.  That way they can take their boxes home as part of their party favor.

20141207-2014-12-07 15.58.14_blog

I used my Silhouette Cameo to make the Elf treat boxes, using this shape in the Silhouette store.  I personalized each box with Basic Grey alphabet stickers, and filled each box with Hershey’s kisses and Reese’s mini cups.

Everyone enjoyed dinner and catching up.  Todd made Seoulful Chicken with Minted Cucumbers, and Sweet & Sour Chicken with Pineapple noodles.

20141207-IMG_4928_blog

There was two desserts.  We had cinnamon sugar churro waffles topped with homemade whipped cream and nutella.

20141207-IMG_4932_blog

We also had homemade double chocolate ice cream, but I forgot to take a photo of it.

I also made some cute globes as party favors.  I created the globes using the Papertrey Ink Tinsel & Tags kit, and the Tinsel & Tags Trimmings kit.  I made the tiny houses from cardstock, dies, and stamps from the kit.

20141207-IMG_4921_blog

I stamped some trees and diecut them and glued them onto my base.  Everything was handmade.  I put the dome globe on last and glued it to my paper base.  I used glue dots to attach the globes to the tops of wide mouth mason jars.  Then I tied red & white bakers twine around the jar lid.

20141207-IMG_4895_blog

Then I put them carefully into these cute Christmas felt buckets from Target.

20141207-2014-12-07 11.27.30_blog

I also gave each couple a handmade shaker card.

20141213-IMG_4952_blog

One of the guests even said, “Hey, the house in the card matches the house in the globe!”  It’s true!

20141207-IMG_4923_blog

We took a few group photos before settling in to watch “Elf”.

When Shannon got home, she posted this photo on Instagram.  I loved seeing everything Elf Party together!

Yay for another successful Elf Party!  We had a lot of fun!
