I ended up doing Week 15 and Week 16 together this weekend, since I hadn’t done Week 15 yet. I actually like getting two weeks done at the same time, since it seems to take less time than doing each week individually. But two weeks is my limit in being “behind”. For 2012 I have not let myself get more than two weeks behind.
My Friday Frenzy mass production of Project Life journal cards really helped me with getting my two weeks of pages done.
Week 15
Todd had been sick with a cold but we finally got out for lunch and a walk around the lake, which was awesome. And I finished our 2011 taxes and filed it. One of my college degrees was in Accounting, but taxes were never my specialty. Nevertheless, I feel a sense of pride in doing our own taxes, even though nowadays it has gotten a lot more complicated. Thank goodness for Turbo Tax. (Which, by the way, is headquartered a couple of miles from our house!)
Left page.
I used a week title page from the Clementine Core Kit. It had a gray and orange postal border, so I went with the same colors while scrapping it. The doily stamp is one that I carved myself. I used Jenni Bowlin dye ink in Weather Vane and Chicken Feed. “Life Is Good” stamp was from the $1 bin at Michaels.
Photo of Todd walking at the lake, and photo of our lunch at Chile Peppers, plus some journaling.
We went out to dinner on Wednesday to celebrate finishing and filing our 2011 taxes, even though we owed money, LOL.
A Noodle page. The red stamped “love” is another one I carved myself. The “with love” strip is actually white on sketched gray washi tape!
Right page. I did a lot of crafting this week so a lot of the page was about that.
I’m trying to cut back on carbs and this grilled steak edamame salad was SO SO good! I created the semi-transparent banner in Photoshop and typed journaling on it before printing the photo out.
This was a funny photo of all the noodle I DIDN’T eat at the Vietnamese restaurant. They sure give you a TON of noodles!
A couple of journal cards to summarize our week. The left one I used the stamp I carved that looks like a piece of washi tape. The circle “TODAY” stamp is another one from Michaels $1 bin.
This section of the page is all about me taking up carving stamps. The ampersand journal card on the left is one I made using the 3x4 Project Life grid journal card, the Studio Calico ampersand mask, and some Mr Huey spray ink.
Some more crafty things I did in Week 15. I did a Print & Cut of a whole sheet of labels with my Sihouette. The top banner on this page was cut with Amy Martin’s Cutting Files: Edged Borders SVG files from The Lilypad. I upgraded my Silhouette Studio software to the Designer Edition so that I could open and work with SVG files.
That’s it for Week 15. Please leave a comment if you have questions.
Just a short note about comments. I’ve noticed that a lot of people visit my blog nowadays, and very few people comment. It’s a little bit discouraging to me when I spend a lot of time blogging about my projects and hardly anyone takes the time to comment, even though I see things pinned to Pinterest from my blog all the time. It doesn’t really encourage me to want to take the time to share my Project Life or other types of projects on my blog. It really takes me a lot of time to blog about these, and if you’re getting some sort of inspiration from it, or have any thoughts to share, it would be quite encouraging to me if you could take the time to leave a comment from time to time. I try to do the same in the blogosphere when I come upon something that I like. Because the author and content-provider spent the time to share, and she deserves some encouragement via comments. That is all. :)
2012 Project Life | Week 15 Supplies:
Sorry I don't post much to your blog.....but im pretty sure you know how I feel about your project life inspiration;)
ReplyDeleteThank you for all of your wonderful PL posts. I'm definitely guilty of pinning-but-not-commenting and this was a great reminder that I need to comment on other people's awesomeness more. I've been following your PL posts for months and really enjoy seeing your new ones each week. Since I'm a digital PL'er, I love to take ideas that paper scrappers and see if I can incorporate them into my digital pages. Love your pages this week, especially the ampersand pocket. (totally going to try to do that in PS) Thank you for all your hard work at getting these together each week. They are very inspirational :)

Wow, your carved stamps are just pure awesomeness!!!
ReplyDeleteChristine, your PL is awesome! You truly do inspire me! Now, if only I could get caught up on mine. I'm over a month behind. Need. To. Play. Catchup!
ReplyDeleteI caved and bought the Designer's Edition on my Cameo as well as a while back, it was 50% off :) What are the SVG files? Are they mainly just a cutting type of file? I'm surprised the Cameo doesn't come with this file rather than having to upgrade to a Designer's Edition to use it. I mean.... it IS a cutting machine. :P
Love, love, love your new carved stamps! Did you buy a kit to get started? I did it once in high school, but I remember having a hard time with the fine details. Yours are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI really liked the journaling cards that you made for project life! I need to get my stamps out & stamp some up. Also loved the stamps you carved.
ReplyDeleteBrandi - SVG files are graphic files that can be saved from Illustrator. There are a ton of files that you can download for free on the internet. Now that you have the Designer Edition of the Silhouette software, you can open all those files and cut them!
ReplyDeleteCassi - there wasn't a starter set for stamp carving. I just bought a Speedball lino cutter (the one with 5 different interchangeable blades) and a couple of Speedy-Carve blocks.
I love your journalling cards too. I really need to do sonething like that to speed up my process. Currently I am three weeks behind though so I think my priority is playing catch up! I really like your stamps too. I am so envious of all the lovely craft supplies you have access to in the US.
ReplyDeleteYou know I love you and your blog. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love your project life and your posts. Thanks !
ReplyDeleteyou are so creative! such an inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI just started PL this year and I love how you use homemade handmade items in yours! I am very inspired!
ReplyDeleteLooks great, Christine! I love the colors you chose. I, too read your blog, but usually from my phone, so I don't usually take the time to comment. I'll try to do that more often, since I'm fast realizing how much time goes into these posts, as well as the time spent on your project life.

ReplyDeleteWow you are so talented!
ReplyDeleteYou are going to have some amazing memories to look back on in years to come!
Guilty!! I lerk you site... when I get a chance. I just love your ideas and you are such an inspiration. I know it takes time to post.. along with all the other projects you have going on in your life.. I sometimes wonder how you have the time. OH OH.. I know.. you must never sleep.. lol
ReplyDeleteThank you.. and from now on.. when I visit your site.. I will make my presents known.
Hi Christine, I just wanted to say hi and tell you how much I enjoy your blog. Because of you I have purchased some digital stuff that you have linked. And I really like the stamps you have been creating and have been tempted to go to Micheals to get the stuff to make them. I always look forward to your posts but don't always comment probably because of limited time. I don't know how I found you, but I have been reading you for about 3 months.
ReplyDeleteA cool coincidence I realized when I started reading you is that you live right by me. :) I live in Poway, right next to Poway Lake. So, its really enjoyable to read where you eat and go. It makes me want to check out all the places you go to.
Anyway, thanks for the inspiring content. I will try to post comments more often. :)
I just found your blog and love it . I love your PL posts, especially the close ups. The journaling cards that you improvised are super cute. I live in Canada and the price of buying a kit is to much. So I am in the process of making everything from scratch and your creativeness is very helpful.
ReplyDeleteHi Christine, I'm a new reader of yours and just want to say a Huge Thankyou for your willingness to share your creativity with us. I gain so much inspiration from reading yours and the other fab scrapbooking girls I have on my favourites list. I'm a very new PLifer and its so good to see how others use their stash along with the PL products. Thanks again for sharing. I look forward to reading some more. Kindest Regards, from New Zealand :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm loving your Project Life project. It's very inspiring, to just distill your life down to a few memorable events each week!
ReplyDeleteMy best,
Pamela
Your Project Life is awesome.. I've only found you now through a pin on Pinterest.. Even if no one comments.. still post.. a lot of times people get the inspiration they need and not say anything, but I try and comment on a lot of things I see.. I'm inspired by your Project Life terribly and wanted to let you know I'd love for you to continue to post blog posts!
ReplyDeleteLike the commenter above I just found your blog through Pinterest. Your ampersand card really caught my eye. I think your style is fantastic. Thanks for sharing your Project Life stuff.
ReplyDeleteI, too, love the ampersand card. It got me thinking about what else I could mist to create journaling cards. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteNice to see how your diy cards got used. Hand carved stamps are cool!
