2012 Project Life | Week 9

For this week’s Project Life, I tried a different approach.  For my regular 2-page spread, I did it a 24x12 digital layout first, then I cropped 4x6 pieces to print out.

Here’s my layout in progress in Photoshop.

And here’s the finished 24x12 digital page.  {Click to see bigger version.}

After I printed out the 4x6 pieces onto Canon Glossy Photo Paper Plus, I put the 4x6 pieces into the top and bottom of my Design A page protectors.  Then I further cut the pieces that go into the middle row into 3x4 pieces and put them in.  Here’s what the 2-page spread ended up looking like.

I thought doing it this way would go faster for me, but that’s not necessarily true.  But I loved doing this experiment and really enjoyed the process of creating it.

I used a 4x6 journal card from the Project Life Clementine digital edition for the week’s title page.  I tried to make it look like my usual weekly number cutout!

More journaling.  Somehow Todd’s boss put Todd in charge of a double-baby shower for two of his coworkers.  He organized the catering and the money-collecting for the gift cards, and did great!

I found this photo of Todd on his computer and I laughed so hard I had to include it in Project Life!

I had a couple of extra inserts this week.  The first one is Todd’s account of completing the Tough Mudder race.  This is the front side of the 6x12 insert.

And this is the backside.  I posted a tutorial on how I printed the title and journaling out on 8.5x11 cardstock and then converted it into a 6x12 layout.

Todd’s bib number and wrist bands for Tough Mudder.  The bib number accidentally went through the wash and survived.  It’s TOUGH!  :p

The back of the race bib has a map of the 11.5 mile race route, along with markers of the obstacles.

And since it was the end of February, I took my Month In Review blog post and turned it into an 8.5x11 insert.  This is what it looked like.  I printed the photo collage on a 8.5x11 Canon glossy photo paper.  I copied the journaling from my blog into my layout in Photoshop.  Then I printed the layout front and back onto Bazzill white cardstock.

Then I cut up the photo collage so they’d fit into the blank space of both the front and back of my page.

Phew, it took me a LONG time this week to complete my Project Life, that’s why I’m blogging about it on Saturday night!

  4. yes, you are a creative genius. I love how it turned out, I have to admit to being a bit skeptical at the beginning of the post, because I couldn't visualize, but it looks AWESOME!

  5. Christine, you are my PL hero! I love how you are so creative and come up with these cool ways to print for your album! I was also thinking about doing a 12x12 and printing and putting in a 12x12 page protector, but this is better b/c you don't have to have it printed somewhere else if you don't have a large format printer (which I don't). It looks real by the way, like it's all done the paper way. Love it!!!

  6. Your Project Life posts (and scrapping) really show you *are* a fun-loving woman. Wish I had your energy! And wish I'd been able to wish you a happy birthday on your actual birthday instead of now that I've come back down to San Diego ... and earth. :-)

    Remember: we owe you and Todd a trip to Chile Peppers!
