Evalicious | Magical

20150525-IMG_5609_Evalicious_CN

Good morning!  I’m on the Evalicious blog today sharing a magical layout I created about my recent trip to Disneyland.  The trip had been planned for a long time, since last summer.  Four of us friends (me, Liz, Peppermint, and Kami) signed up to run the Tinker Bell 10K at Disneyland, so we made it a weekend event complete with running inside the park while it was empty in the morning, lots of good food, and lots of Disney rides!  Visiting Disneyland as an adult with other adult friends is actually quite an awesome experience.

I used a lot of goodies from the This Way collection.  The colors and travel theme in the collection was perfect for our visit to Disneyland.  I diecut the “magical” title using alphabet metal dies and some glitter foam.  The “destination” wood veneer from This Way Wood Veneer V1 was perfect as a banner between my two photos.  And the layout wouldn’t be complete without the gold star puffy stickers from Gold Misc Shapes Puffy Stickers.

I love the “happy memories” wood veneer from This Way Wood Veneer V2!  One of my favorite ways to dress up wood veneer is to color it with some Sharpie glitter paint pens.

I used a bunch of stamps from “Best Day Ever” stamp set and “Weekday Banner” stamp set to create a cluster of images in the bottom left of my layout.  I used ink colors that match the rest of my layout.

I always love to include circle elements on my layouts and the badge button from “This Way Badge Buttons” was perfect for this layout.

Paper Issues | Therm-O-Web Deco Foil

20150516_FoiledCards

The new issue link party is up on the Paper Issues blog today!  It’s called “Hooray for the Red, White, and Blue” and it’s all about these three colors, patriotic, parades, Memorial Day, nautical elements.  This issue is sponsored by Therm-O-Web and it’s all about their deco foil!

Therm-O-Web sponsored this issue and sent me a few different colors of their Deco Foil and different adhesives to work with them.  I was so intrigued and wanted to experiment with it all!

The first project I did was to foil my red Moleskine Cahier notebook.

20150516-IMG_5584_CLN_600

I simply used some AC double-sided tape and adhered them to the notebook.  Then I pressed the gold Deco Foil onto the tape and peeled it off.  The Deco Foil adhered to the tape and I have a beautifully striped foil notebook!

For my next project I used two methods to add foil.  I printed the cat graphic from Simple Stories with my laser printer and ran it through my laminator with the rainbow Deco Foil on top of the print.

20150516-IMG_5573_CLN_600

For the numbers, I used the balloon numbers die from Avery Elle and diecut them out of Scor-Tape double-sided adhesive sheets.  Then I adhered them onto my card first, then put the gold foil sheet on top of the numbers and pressed down.  I removed the foil sheet and the numbers were gold foiled!

For my next project I used a couple of different methods of foiling.  I stamped the background images with cameras onto my cardstock with Versa Mark ink.  Then I heat embossed it with clear fine embossing powder.  After that I ran it through my laminator with the teal foil on top of the embossing.  This method doesn’t yield as crisp of an image as graphics printed with a laser printer, but it does give it an artsy look.

20150516-IMG_5576_CLN_600

I diecut the “thanks” using Therm-O-Web’s Double-Sided Foam Adhesive sheets and Lawn Fawn’s “Scripty Thanks” die.  Then I pressed the Deco Foil down onto the diecut word and removed it.  The foil adhered to the word and looks so pretty!

For my last project I used Therm-O-Web’s Hot Melt Adhesive and diecut stars out of them.  Then I used my laminator to hot melt the adhesive to the cardstock.  After that I peeled off the papers on top of the stars and ran it through the laminator again with the foil on top.  The blue foil adhered to the hot melt stars and turned out so cool!

I hope you enjoyed a look at the various methods I used to add some foil to my cards!  Be sure to link up your projects to the Paper Issues blog post for a chance to win a prize pack from Therm-O-Web!

Evalicious | Right Here

20150503-IMG_5569_Evalicious_CN

Hello there!  I’m on the Evalicious blog today to share a layout I made on National Scrapbook Day back on May 2nd.  Every year on NSD, I usually scrap a page about why I love this little scrapbooking hobby of mine.  I used a lot of products from the new Evalicious collection This Way.  The blues in the collection really went well with my photo and the papers and embellishments that I used.

20150503-IMG_5559_CLN_600

I created different textures on my page by combining stamping with various embellishments such as puffy stickers, paper clips, wood veneers, and badge buttons

20150503-IMG_5561_Evalicious_CN

I used a tag from This Way Large Tags to house my journaling for this page.  The “Right Here” wood veneer from This Way Wood Veneer V2 served as an anchor to the page as well as my title.

20150503-IMG_5563_Evalicious_CN

Layering is one of my favorite ways to create visual interest on a page.  I love using the This Way Snipsnip Page Tabs to staple onto the edge of a piece of paper to add texture.

What do you love about scrapbooking?  I just love the combination of playing with papers and embellishments and documenting little pieces of my life.  It just makes me happy.

Hope you enjoyed a look at my page that I created on NSD.  Thank you for stopping by!

What I Cooked | April 2015

20150414-IMG_5517_blog

I’ve been continuing to cook one new dish each week to learn new cooking skills.  You can follow my “Stuff I Cooked” Pinterest board for all the dishes that I cooked this year so far.

Skinnytaste | Spiralized Shanghai Beef and Broccoli

20150408-2015-04-08 18.38.41_blog

Made this on 4/8/2015 - it was hard to get that much broccoli stem to spiralize it, without getting quite a few broccoli heads. So next time I think I'm going to buy broccoli florets and broccoli slaw in a bag. I sliced up the beef and marinaded them for an hour, instead of marinading the whole steak for 2 hours. Turned out great!

Skinnytaste | Shrimp Zoodles Parmesan

20150414-2015-04-14 18.46.24_blog

Made this on 4/14/2015. Very easy recipe to make on a weeknight. Turned out really well, I'll definitely be making this again!  The shrimp was baked in the oven and turned out excellent.  You can probably adjust this recipe to use chicken.

Cooksmarts | Sriracha Ramen Tofu Salad

20150421-2015-04-21 18.26.49_blog

Made this on 4/21/2015 - very easy and delicious! I would probably either use less noodles or substitute some noodles with zoodles next time. It's a lot of noodles and associated calories.  But the flavors were delicious and it was fast & easy.

Damndelicious | One Pot Garlic Parmesan Pasta

20150427-2015-04-27 18.43.01_blog

Made this on 4/27/2015 - I used 2% milk instead of whole. Used linguine instead of fettuccine. Added 12 oz of roasted rotisserie chicken for protein. It was delicious and about 30 minutes!

And that’s what she cooked in April.  Todd cooked the rest of our meals.  We actually cooked quite a bit at home in April!  We cooked at home 25 out of 30 days in April.  This habit tracking sheet is really working for us.

Paper Issues | Vacation Pocket Page

20150425-IMG_5543_PI_CN

Happy Monday, everyone!  I’m on the Paper Issues blog today with a vacation pocket page!  As you recall from a couple of weeks ago, I created a 12x12 layout about our Hawaii vacation using Crate Paper Maggie Holmes collection Confetti.  I thought I would create a corresponding pocket page and put them next to each other in my album.

I don’t do pocket pages the traditional Project Life way anymore.  This year I’m not doing chronological scrapbooking, which means I don’t document week by week or even monthly using pocket pages.  However, I still have room for pocket pages in my life for those times when I want to add more photos!  I really enjoy combining 12x12 pages with pocket pages to document my life.  To coordinate with my 12x12 page, I usually use the same scrapbook collection so that everything is the same color scheme.

20150425-IMG_5537_CLN_600

On our Big Island vacation, we celebrated my birthday with lunch at the Four Seasons.  The views were fantastic, and the food was out of this world!  I cut the Confetti “Blast” paper into 4x6 size and layered several of the diecut ephemera under my photos.

20150425-IMG_5542_PI_CN

I used some glitter foam Thickers for my title, as well as some alpha stickers.  The gold star vellum paper looks so pretty layered over the Fete paper

20150425-IMG_5541_PI_CN

One thing that I discovered I love to do is to stamp words onto my photos.  I used some Technique Tuesday Ali Edwards stamps that aren’t in the store anymore, but you can definitely get the same look with any stamps.

20150425-IMG_5544_PI_CN

I added some Tiny Phrase Stickers onto some of my photos and they make me happy!

20150425-IMG_5545_PI_CN

So now I have matching 12x12 and pocket pages that document part of our vacation!

Hope you enjoyed a look at my pocket page and the way I’m organizing my album this year!
